EACH Colour Dash 2016.

Posted on: 18 August 2016

On Saturday 13th August 2016, eight members of Prospect Research, a little girl and a dog took part in the East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH) Colour Dash hosted by The Kings School in Ely.

IMG_1254The event was a five kilometre run / walk around the beautiful sports grounds overlooking the Cathedral, while having coloured paint powder pelted at us from all directions. Upon registration we received our white Colour Dash T-shirts, which did not stay clean for long as the paint flinging fun soon commenced. Thank goodness the paint was nontoxic because I forgot to close my mouth and ate a fair bit of it. The atmosphere was fantastic and the aerobics instructors from Kick Start did a great job of warming up the crowd before we set off. Whether you chose to run or take a leisurely stroll, there was no escaping the Paint Pirates dotted around the course armed with buckets of paint, and boy did they enjoy covering us from head to toe.

IMG_1268As we crossed the finish line, we were given a medal and a cup of paint powder. The participants were then gathered in a group and instructed to throw their powder in the air. The explosion of colour above us was both spectacular and uplifting, reminding me that even though EACH support families through the darkest times of their lives, if we come together to support them, we can help create some hope and light.

IMG_1257EACH supports families and cares for children with life threatening illnesses. Their service to people coping with very difficult circumstances is funded primarily through donations and fund raising events such as the Colour Dash. Prospect Research has been supporting EACH since 2007 and along with collecting sponsorship for the Colour Dash, we also had a dress down day and cake sale to ensure we were able to raise over £300 for the charity. EACH are hoping that the event will raise £20 000 in total and we at Prospect Research are proud that we played a small part in it.
