Make sure you are speaking to the decision maker

Talking to the decision maker makes a great difference. A regular employee may not have the authority to make a deal or set an appointment. His job may only be to forward filtered calls to the decision maker. You need to make sure that you are talking to the correct person and not overselling your product to someone who does not have the authority to make decisions.

Be Positive about your product

When selling your product or informing potential customers about it, you should sound excited and interested in the product that you are promoting. In telemarketing, where the opposite person is not present in front of you, positivity should be communicated in your voice over the phone call. To successfully sell your product, you should believe the product you are selling to be the best. Repeating the same things over and over again on the phone call may bore the opposite person, so sound enthusiastic about the product.

Make a script of what you have to say

Writing a properly organized script would be a great initiative to save time while conversing as you won’t have to waste time on thinking about the points you need to talk about. Of course, you don’t have to read this script to the person on the call, but you just have to take guidelines from it so you don’t miss out on any important point. Using this technique would make you sound more clear and confident about the purpose of your call. Your goal is not to let that person agree to finalise the deal at that very moment, your goal is to get them to commit to a meeting.

Prepare a catching opening sentence

The way you start a conversation often depicts how the conversation would follow. To make it sound interesting, you need to prepare a strong and creative opening to catch the attention of the listeners and to introduce them to your product or business. Try to be as creative as you can to distinguish yourself from other telemarketing callers. For example, you can start your conversation by complimenting that person on some accomplishment that you’ve found through your research.

Continuous rejection tires you to the point where you want to give up on working further. It brings you emotional pain and puts you in a dilemma where you question your own capabilities. Don’t feel defeated. You cannot make a bad call ruin your attitude towards your work. You have to remain positive and motivated.
