Here are a few tips on the dos and don’ts of working in telemarketing.

Do’s:

Pay attention to different time zones

When working in telemarketing you may find that sometimes you will need to call into different countries. When doing this you need to focus on the different time zones because if you call too early or too late into different countries then it is more likely that not many people will be at work. Therefore, this will affect how many results you will receive. So therefore, you will need to make sure that you time your calls just right in order to achieve more results.

know your script

When making phone calls in order to generate more leads. As you probably already know there is nothing worse than receiving a phone call from someone who doesn’t know what they are trying to say, or someone who sounds like they are reading from a script. So therefore, you should make sure you know the script as this will help you when it comes to achieving more results.

Listen and ask relevant questions

You should always make sure that you ask relevant questions. Otherwise not only are you wasting the other person’s time, but you are also wasting your own time. Which can be used to find other potential leads. Then once the person is answering your questions make sure you are listening to what they are saying because if you interrupt what they are trying to say then they are less likely to go into as much detail as before or they might just lose interest and just hang up.

Don’t

Give up too easily

When making phone calls you shouldn’t ever give up easily because it is all a numbers game. You should aim to make between 100-120 calls a day, as this will help to increase the chances of you getting through to the relevant people and therefore qualifying that overall lead.

Get easily distracted while on the phone.

You should never get distracted when working on the phones. This includes not sitting on your phone, reading your emails, talking to other colleagues because if you do any of them while working on the phones it means that you are more likely to miss important details that the other person is saying, Which makes it harder to follow up.

Sound like you are reading from a script

When working in telemarketing, one of the biggest challenges is making sure that you don’t sound like you are reading from a script because if you do this then people know that it is a sales call and therefore will hang up on you.
